Will Cardio Workouts Help Me Get 6 Pack Abs?

Many people who are trying to lose weight or get into shape feel that the best way to go about it is by doing a lot of cardio training. It is very common knowledge that running, walking, jogging, or biking will start burning calories and will help you lose weight. For many people this is one of the best ways to start a fitness program. It will get your body moving and your metabolism up. But why is is that you don’t have the lean muscular look that you are going for?

Unfortunately, cardio workouts will eat away at whatever muscle you do have. Since you are not working on strengthing the muscles your body is using them to provide the fuel it needs to keep you moving. You are getting into very good shape and can probably impress people with how many miles you can run or bike but when you take your shirt off you still have a belly. Why is this?

Have you ever watched the Boston Marathon or a local 10k and taken a look at the people who run them. Many of them are skinny but did you notice a lot of them are “skinny fat.” Imagine somebody who is thin but has a pot belly and sagging man boobs. They just do not have the definition you would think somebody who can run 26.2 miles should have. What is is that these people are missing?

A healthy meal plan could be part of it. Runners can burn through just about anything they eat because there is so many calories being burnt off over the course of a long distance. What happens over time is that the body gets use to the running and does not need as many calories to finish the distance being run. If you are still not following a healthy meal plan the weight will not got away. They will still be able to run the same distances but not look like they should.

The key to getting six pack abs is to focus more on resistance training and a healthy meal plan at the same time. Working with weights will strengthen the muscles in your body and build them up to push through the layers of fat you have. While doing the resistance training you need to have the correct meal plan to go with it. If you do not your abs will never show. You will have a strong mid section but will not be able to show off the rock hard abs you have worked so hard to get.

There are many ab workouts for men available. The key is to find one that promotes more resistance training then cardio workouts and describing the importance of a proper meal plan. If it does not promote those than pass on it and go onto the next one. When you find one that looks like it will work go ahead and get it. Just remember that the only way you will get the 6 pack abs you want is by committing to it.
